The Nature of Machines 6-15-19


Carving out the story

I've been working on "The Nature of Machines" from the beginning with a story in mind. Its changed a little bit from the original idea, but mostly it has remained whole.

The trick along the way has been that I'm constantly asking myself: "does this game feature serve the story? take away from it? Does it make the story more boring? Is this orignal at all?" These things rattle around in my head a lot. The fun part is that with a video game you have so many options and can do things that people expect and then give them a sort of twist so that people can feel like they are in to something unique and not just some factory cranked out Ad machine, AKA a bunch of Android games.

The good news!

I've now started integrating the main portion of the story and have a good idea of how it is going to be told. I'm really looking forward to this part. I've been working so much on programming aspects and design that I haven't been able to focus on the real meaty parts of game development! With that said, below is the first dialog of the story!
